Organizational Behavior

EXECUTIVE MBA
BUS-7000 Organizational Behavior
All assignments, discussions, activities, projects, and homework in this course are focused
around your current employment. The central focus of this EMBA program is unlike other
MBA programs in that it is designed to provide you with opportunities to network learning
from multiple employment environments and perspectives. You are expected to compare
and contrast personal and current work experiences with those of other students in the
course. Ottawa University considers this uniquely designed curriculum a perhaps once-ina-
lifetime opportunity for you to internalize your learning through practical application,
combining current real-time experiences with classroom theory, creative testing, analysis,
modeling, and research, while applying your learning to the workplace to improve practice
and extend knowledge.
Required Text
This course uses an e-text which is available in Blackboard. You do not need to purchase a hardcopy of this book, but feel free to do so if you prefer to use a printed version of our text.
Griffin, R., Phillips, J., & Gully, S. (2020). Organizational behavior: Managing people and organizations
(13th ed.). Cengage Publishing.
Course Format
1. This course begins with an analysis of the most basic component of an organization individuals in the
workplace, including behaviors, motivation, and decision-making at the individual level.
2. Next, we move to a more complex investigation of behaviors, motivational strategies, and problemsolving
at the interpersonal and group level.
3. Finally, we conclude by evaluating how the design and structure of an organization can promote or
hinder organizational goals, and the need for organizations to remain adaptive in our era of rapid change.
Following our weekend in class, you will have intersession readings and teamwork to complete prior to the
final 1-day session on Friday. All materials and readings are located in your Blackboard supplemental
classroom, labeled session-by-session to help you find and complete all required activities.
